Manufacturing and facility

One food-grade building, everything under its roof.

Our Norwood, Ontario facility runs washing, dehydration, milling and grinding, and co-packing on one site, under a Safe Food for Canadians licence and HACCP policies and procedures. Producing since 2014.

The foundation

Four operations, one site.

Each one is a step a customer can use on its own or as part of the whole run.

Industrial dehydration

A tunnel dehydrator dries vegetables, fruits, herbs, and powders to a shelf-stable moisture level.

Milling and grinding

A grinder takes dried product to flakes or to the particle size a specification calls for.

Co-packing and shipping

Filled and sealed on site, from custom B2B bulk containers to retail-ready packaging, and shipped from single cartons by courier to full truckloads.

Equipment

The plant, photographed in 2024.

Real equipment in the rooms it runs in: the tunnel dehydrator, the automated washing line, and its control panel.

Food safety and quality

Licensed, documented, and tested.

The programme behind every shipment, stated the way the documents state it.

Licence
Safe Food for Canadians licence issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (licence 6J8XCRFB), held by Next Millennium Farms Inc., the legal entity behind the Entomo Farms brand.
Programme
The team follows all HACCP policies and procedures. The plant does not hold HACCP or BRCGS certification and does not claim to.
Testing
Routine microbiological testing on every batch of food product we manufacture; results on the certificate of analysis that ships with the order.
Lot codes
Every cricket powder lot code identifies the product type, the barn, and the production week, so a shipment traces back to the week it was made.
Premises
Crickets are raised, processed, and packed on Entomo Farms premises. Product is not irradiated. No solvents are used in manufacturing, other than cleaning chemicals at food-safe concentrations.
Documentation
Specification sheet and certificate of analysis with shipments; routine microbiological testing on every batch of food product we manufacture. Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and certificate of analysis with export shipments.
Regulatory
Products comply with the Safe Food for Canadians Act and Regulations and the US Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as stated in the supplier quality and food safety guarantee that accompanies the specification.
