By now you’ve read about it, you’ve heard about it, you might even have seen or tasted it. Edible insects like crickets are not just a trend, they are here to stay thanks to the incredible health benefits and the great sustainability of this micro livestock.

It’s that time of year again, when we take stock of where we have been and where we want to go and plan out steps to achieve our new goals. For many of us, these goals are associated with being more healthy; physically, mentally, emotionally (for some, spiritually).

When we take action towards improving our physical health, typically we change up our diet and increase our physical activity. Incorporating edible insects into your diet can make a tremendous impact on your physical health, and can help increase your energy so that you have more desire to be more physically active.

When you have enough of the right nutrients you have more energy which will help you reach your goal of being more physically active. There has also been some incredibly interesting research recently about how edible insects can improve the biome of the gut, which has some amazing health benefits.

The great news is that adding edible insects into your diet is super easy. Blending cricket powder into your daily smoothie is one of my favourite ways of making sure I start my day off in a delicious way that is full of nutrients. You can make a Green Smoothie like this one, or try a variation of your choice. My personal favourite is blending a tablespoon of cricket powder with 2 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt, a teaspoon of natural peanut butter, a dash of pure vanilla extract, a frozen banana, a handful of frozen berries and almond milk. YUM! Ready to try it yourself? I’ll make it easy for you. Use code ‘eatclean’ at checkout for 20% off your entire purchase. Check out our recipes for some delicious inspiration!
