Hummus with Cricket Flour
Hummus is one of my favourite dishes of all time. I have always loved dips- any kind of dip. You can dip while you watch a movie, dip while you’re working or studying, or while you’re getting lost in a good book. This dish goes beyond your wildest dreams, because it satiates you like a meal thanks to the cricket powder (cricket flour) packing it with a huge amount of nutrients.
Ingredients
2 tins of chick peas (400 g) keep the liquid
5-7 Tbsp of reserved chick pea liquid
4-6 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2-4 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp (20 g) cricket powder
3-5 tsp tahini
2-4 cloves of garlic
1 tsp sea salt flakes
optional hot sauce or cayenne to taste
Directions
Pulse all the items together in a food processor until you reach your desired consistency. I prefer mine a bit on the chunkier side for more substance. Keep tasting as you go along, adding ingredients as your palate desires. This makes quite a large batch, but don’t be surprised when there’s none left for you to have for lunch the next day.
