Happy Healthy Holidays

When you think of the holidays, what do you think about? Family, friends, good times, and food… yes of course, good food comes to mind. But why is it, that when we think of ‘good food’ for the holidays, it is often synonymous with tons of calories, loads of fat, heart burn, indigestion, and of course extra hours at the gym? It doesn’t have to be this way. There are many ways to blend delicious, traditional holiday foods with healthy goodness and nutrients.

We have asked some of our most loyal recipe contributors and customers to send us their favorite holiday recipes that they have blended with healthy and delicious ingredients including cricket powder. The cricket powder is easily added into basically any and every recipe you can think of… from baked goods, to holiday favorites like gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, and salad dressing. You are only limited by your own imagination!

Bubby’s Matzo Ball Soup

Well, it’s almost just like Bubby’s Matzo Ball Soup, except for the tiny addition of about 3 tablespoons (30 g) of cricket powder. The beautiful thing is that you can use a store-bought Matzo Ball mix (I did) and you don’t have to alter the cooking directions at all! And the best thing is, the flavour is out of this world and you’ll actually feel energized after eating it!
